Listen to What I Listen To

A few days ago, I signed up to be a DJ for WKNC 88.1, The Revolution (so they say). I've been meaning to do this since I was a freshman and it's pretty much my last chance now, so hopefully it will be cool. My good friend Sean Hill has told me that the show formats are very structured now, but I'll to try get by the best I can. The class that I have to take to actually do this starts next Tuesday. I wonder if this is how Ira Glass started out.

Freshman year, when I thought I was going to be a DJ the first time, I had this shirt that said "Pickle Party" on it, and I was trying to come up with a suitable radio name at a neighborhood gathering back at home. My TEP teacher from kindergarten-6th grade was there, and she said "Oh, you're funny, so how about "Tickle My Pickle?" It's very strange to hear someone you've known since you were five say that. I was scarred for life.

Anyway, in honor of the whole WKNC thing, I figured I'd put together a playlist of some of my favorite songs at the moment. They're mostly a little old and I realize nobody is gonna listen to these anyway but that's okay. If you do decide to, I recommend the Minus The Bear song in particular. It's really good.

In hip-hop news, Crank Dat Soulja Boy is #2 on the Billboard Top 100 right now, and I can only imagine how pissed the Crank Dat Roosevelt/Superman/Aquaman/Dragonball/etc guys are that they're not getting a cut of that. Cranking dat is officially the new ghostriding the whip. Imagine if you combined the two!

Moreover, my boy T-Pain has gone mad, as evidenced by this interview where he basically says that nobody can ever use autotune again without his permission. MAYBE YOU BETTER LISTEN TO SOME ZAPP AND ROGER, HOMEBOY.

And not only that, but they can make you dance. I still don't know what's up with that tube in Roger's mouth.

In miscellaneous news I'm giving sushi another chance tonight (I was told to get the spider and spicy tuna rolls), and Jens Lekman's new album is really really good. COP THAT JUNK POSTHASTE.

That is all
